The vision of this professional body is to raise the professionalism of the bookkeeping sector of the financial industry by further supporting the development of competence.
The IAB is unique in that it is both a professional body for bookkeepers and it is an awarding body recognised and regulated by the relevant government authorities in England (Ofqual), Wales (Welsh Government) and Northern Ireland (CCEA). Most of the IAB qualifications are accredited by these authorities.
The IAB is present in most parts of the world where UK accounting standards or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are used. For example, there are over 4,000 students in India currently registered and/or preparing to take an IAB exam.
